Meet Vicki

• Vicki is a first generation Canadian, she is bilingual, and has spent nearly 30 years fighting for Kingston and its communities.

• Graduated from Dawson College and then McGill University with a Bachelor of Civil Law degree.  She is a lawyer and member of the Barreau du Quebec.  Vicki also has a diploma in Teaching Adults from St. Lawrence College and a diploma in mediation and conflict resolution from Carleton University.

• Worked as a producer at CBC radio and as a researcher for CBC-TV and for the Department of Justice Canada as director of the law information section.

• Past member of the Lemoine Point Advisory Committee, the Kingston Environmental Advisory Forum, and the K & P Trail Ad Hoc Committee.

• Past President of the Polson Park school council.

• City Councillor for the Trillium District (2006-2010).  When on Council, Vicki was chair of the Planning Committee and was a member of the Environment, Infrastructure, and Transportation Policies Committee, the Appeals Committee, and the Nominations Committee as well as other committee roles.  City Council representative on  Kingston Access Services, Kingston Frontenac Public Library, and Public Health.

• Cyclist, both commuter and traveler, long-time member of the YMCA, practices yoga.

• Co-founder and President of the Land Conservancy for Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington, active member of city resident groups working to promote democratic processes at city hall, to support peace here, and around the world, and to protect parks, waterfront, turtles, and shorelines.

• On Council, Vicki supported investing in significant improvement to Kingston's bus and access bus services, the building of affordable housing (e.g. Queen Mary Road project), sidewalk connections and improvements (e.g. new Bath Road southside sidewalk next to LCVI), a ban on pesticides, leash-free dog parks, the first Princess Street promenade, keeping park washrooms open, and many other policies that make the city a better place.

• Vicki and her spouse, Gavin Anderson, have two grown children and a two-year-old granddaughter.
