LETTERS: Waterfront lost?

The former Marine Museum, and the Lower Union pier are a key piece of Kingston’s waterfront.  Today, many Kingstonians remain upset because Mayor Bryan Paterson and a majority of Councillors refused to buy this historic property for $1.

Instead, local developer Jay Patry purchased it, proposing to squeeze a 20-storey apartment tower on the contaminated pier.  At the same time, he is blatantly neglecting the heritage Dry Dock, Pump House, and former Marine Museum site.  Our group, Protect Our Waterfront, opposes Patry’s plan.  We are also picketing every Wednesday to encourage the City to stop this “demolition by neglect.”  We greatly appreciate Vicki’s support for our efforts!
